As the term implies; fast food marriages can take place in a flash. Victims of such marriages are driven by lust and infatuation. Things happen in quick succession. Partners are swept off their feet. Decisions are taken without moments of deep thoughts. Things are done without consulting God. In the end, things take place with the speed that can be compared with buying a hot mince pie or purchasing a scintillating ice cream at a fast food joint. Not much time is wasted and the deed is done. It is a marriage that is based on wild lust and foolish love. Within a short time, lust dies, passion wanes, but unfortunately, the food that has been purchased have been consumed.

Young men and women are often victims of fast food marriages. Silly mistakes are made and the partners are hooked. Those who are bent on fast food marriages will always turn deaf ears to the voice of the Holy Spirit as well as the warnings of their pastors. They go for what is convenient and easy, not knowing that what will last long does not often come easy. Some people have become so hoodwinked that they are ready to find a partner and get married within a week or two. This type of practice is akin to what happens in a fast food outlet. It is an unhealthy marriage. It is a marriage that must not hold. Many young men and women are busy trying to avoid settling down at home to spend an hour on fixing a good meal. They would rather dash to a fast food joint and catch a burger which they will swallow gullibly.
